Understanding NFPA 3000 with John Montes

Did you know … the US has five percent of the world’s population, but accounts for 31 percent of all public mass shootings?

Communities everywhere are facing an increasing number of active shooter or other hostile events.

We’ve discussed the need for integrated preparedness, and response on this show.

In May, the NFPA came out with NFPA 3000™ (PS), the Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response , or ASHER, Program.

It addresses all aspects of the process, from identifying hazards to incident management at a command level. And a lot more.

My guest this time, to explain what went into the standard, is John Montes.

He’s is an Emergency Services Specialist at the NFPA and Staff Liaison for NFPA 3000.
